I use a French Press too (in fact, it makes only 3 cups really) :) Unless I feel like having my cappuccino and then I use the machine. But your technique of heating the water is indeed quite interesting!
And yes, I've had coffee and then gone straight to sleep. In fact, once I managed to have two large cups together with two redbulls and fall asleep. After waking up, I actually thought that it was quite funny it happened, because I really didn't believe it'd be possible. But I was apparently wrong :) (I wasn't on polyphasic then, but had a significant workload and hadn't slept properly in many days.)

lol.. That might be why I was so tired for most of the day.. lol.. Anyway, coffee is very interesting and it is probably true for all people on Polyphasic it just doesn't seem to really have enough power to overpower the desire or need of sleep. I am sure this has happen to you, drink a cup of coffee and then go straight to sleep. That is pretty much how it is for me. I really enjoy it though, but I use a rather expensive organic whole bean coffee. I also use a French Press, so I can only make 3 good cups of coffee at a time. Well, maybe 4, which is 6 and 8 cups on a regular drip coffee machine. Interestingly though, I use the coffee machine to heat up the Spring water, which I then pour into the French Press. The French Press makes an incredible cup of coffee, but I am usually just too lazy to make more. lol.

Hmm, that's pretty impressive: did you really have only 2 cups of coffee for the entire day? That's how many I drink by 10 am :) (after getting up at 4:30am). I'm curious because I'm a fast metabolizer of caffeine, so coffee has very little effect on me, and I end up having 4 cups a day if I hold my love for coffee back... if not, I'll have 6... and in some cases more. My drinking so much coffee is really a matter of taste (since it doesn't really help me anyway), but, I imagine that if I were on the Ubberman schedule, I wouldn't be able to make it on just 2.
