So I watched that movie Eat Pray Love,  and I just didn’t really like it too much.

Julia Roberts stars in this adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir about coping with a depressing divorce. After deciding to reshape her life, Liz (Roberts) travels the world in search of direction. She heads to Italy, India and Bali, indulging in delicious cuisine while seeking the true meaning of self-love, family, friendship and forgiveness. Along the way, she meets a bevy of characters and, possibly, her true love.

Although Julia’s acting was great.  You could tell how the book must have said a lot that was not conveyed in the script because Julia’s looks and mannerism gave a sense of a much deeper character.  It is hard to believe the movie is like 2 hours and 20 minutes and yet if felt like there wasn’t enough character development in some of the supporting roles.  Furthermore, I am just going to say it.  The entire India section of the movie could have just been cut.  I realize she learns something of herself during this time, but the script wasn’t very good and I hate to say it but I didn’t even enjoy the cinematography for the India part of the movie.  I know they worked hard at this movie, but so much more could have be done.  Now, I did really enjoy the time in Rome and some of the script for Julia hit close to home.  It is not a bad movie by far, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Little Notes:

  • This morning I found myself walking around the complex at 4am.  It is amazing how quiet the town is at that time of the night and a single starting whine of an AC unit can permeate such a vast range of space.
  • Later during the day I woke from one of my little sleep sessions and had brain fog pretty bad.  Almost like my mind wasn’t in-sync with the rest of me.  So, I started jogging around the apt.  Yes, my apt is pretty big.  I did 10 of these laps and my mind cleared up.

Checking Netflix Instant Watch releases and adding the following to my queue:

  • The Guild: Season 4 – Oh yeah baby.  The Guild is back, I will be watching that tonight most definitely
    • In the wake of the third season’s cliffhanger, Codex (Felicia Day) struggles to rationalize her impulsive one-night stand with her archrival, the manipulative Fawkes (Wil Wheaton) — not only to her guild mates but also to herself. Meanwhile, Vork (Jeff Lewis) and Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh) attempt to cope with an unexpected houseguest, and Clara (Robin Thorsen) and Tinkerballa (Amy Okuda) join forces to earn a fast bundle.
