Step 2: Installing WordPress

So, now that you did First Step: Who to Host Your Blog & Where to Buy the Domain and signed up with HostGator using the coupon code of jdsportsonline, what next?

It is time to install WordPress.  HostGator has made this so easy.  You log into your control panel and go down to the Software/Services area and select Fantastico De Luxe it will guide you through the WordPress installation step by step.  However, you might want to watch the HostGator instruction video on how to do it first:

Installing WordPress via Fantastico

Just incase you would like to look over the entire video tutorial line, here is the link:

Pretty amazing huh? Just that information alone is worth using HostGator as your hosting provider.

Now that you have WordPress installed it is time to pick your theme and read more about your new blog site.  To get to your WordPress admin type:

The WordPress codex or Index of documentation is here: WordPress Docs – Main Page

That is one of the wonderful aspects of WordPress, it is free and it is open source.  There is alot of information and countless forums in case you run into trouble or want to do something different.  Chances are, someone else has done it or had a problem and there will be a code to do whatever it is you wish.  You might not understand the code, but if you just put it where they say, it usually works out well.

Good luck on your new website.  The next step will be adding advertisers.
